Vogue Magazines May 2015 issue introduces the work of Leon Bakst to fashion lovers. Leon Bakst founded the Ballet Russe with Diaghilev in 1909, and acted as its artistic director, it was his stage designs and costume designs that brought him international acclaim. Between 1909 and 1921 he designed more productions than any other artist and his name became inseparable from the Ballet Russes. Those costume designs are now much sought after in the global art market, along with the costume designs by Picasso and Chagall, many of which remain in the collections of the theaters the productions were mounted for. Anderson Galleries has been collecting those designs by Bakst, Picasso and Chagall along with lesser known but extremely talented artists of their generation.
